Elephants are a favourite animal to see in Africa at any time. They are so big and
so incredibly 'smart' that humans find such a creature - simply amazing.
Many of the Elephants I have seen have lived in desert environments. At 4-6 tonnes,
you can imagine they eat a lot. They are very caring for their young and live
in matriarchal groups. The males leave these groups and after a few years in a
'teenage group', they will then move out to live predominately alone.
