FREE PHOTO TIPS
Photography has changed dramatically in the past few years and - for the better! We can now take an image, process it in a computer and print out a fantastic quality print in minutes! Digital is only limited to your imagination.
Personally - I am a big believer in KIS - Keep It Simple. Understand the basics of photography - have the right tools for your interests - and have a good base understanding of the post photographic requirement. This will lead to you being able to target your creative goals.
Here is a quick reference guide to better results:
1. Understand your camera and equipment. If not sure, ask in a camera store or attend a photo workshop. With knowledge comes power ...
2. Understand the basic principles of photography. Light, metering and creative skills.
3. Get in tight! Most enthusiasts attempt to place too much into an image. Isolate a key subject or point of interest.
4. Balance - that key point of interest within the image area.
5. Shoot around your house as much as possible when starting out. Try the smallest subject to large and people. Explore and do not be scared to try new settings, angles, perspectives etc.
6. Set yourself goals. Perhaps a Xmas card, calendar or AV. This will help you to pick out good images, that is, be critical of your own work and train you in other skills like presentation.
